JPS&HOOVES – ROBOCAPER/LONG TIME

John Clayton aka Johnny Hooves is best known as an independent Producer / DJ, the Drummer for live Drum & Bass band Shapeshifter and sound engineer at the backbone of Melbourne Beats for a good part of the decade. While Drum & Bass has dominated his creative focus for most of his career, Hooves has been exploring Hip Hop and Downbeat in his most recent work.
JPS aka Jerry Poon is known to most as the head honcho of The Operatives, which over the past 5 years have had an unparalleled commitment to bringing out ground breaking experimental beats artists to Australia and New Zealand. Active in his role as DJ, agent, promoter and producer, JPS has progressed on to become one of the leading exponents of The beats community in all respects.
It was soon after the two met they immediately clicked as friends and in the studio, finding a distinct vibe and released on Black Sun Empire obsessions as well as laying down remixes for Artists including Gotye, Benny Tones and Spikey Tee. Now, the duo, both established as reputable DJs themselves have taken their sound in a whole different direction. Bringing together their variety of tastes to develop an inimitable sound, a distinct rumble, allowing their influences to shine through a diverging lens, and to create a brand new path. JPS and Hooves are taking the unbeaten path, walk with them….

THE SYNDICATE EP featuring MAXLANE, CHERRY CHAN, KIAT & KIDKANEVIL

Singapore’s revolutionary transmitter of beats & visual culture, Syndicate, takes a step forward by dishing out its first release. The compilation EP features three of the audio-visual collective’s producers; Cherry Chan, Kiat & Max Lane, with a special remix track by UK producer, Kidkanevil.
Within less than a year, Syndicate has marked itself as the most forward thinking night in Singapore with its bass & beats assaults accompanied by radical visual installations. So from throwing the monthly parties, conceptualizing art shows and playing at festivals, the time has finally come to unleash the gems from the Syndicate studio.
The EP presents the production debut of the collective’s first lady, Cherry Chan. Fresh from her Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) stint in London earlier this year, Cherry partners with Kiat for the catchy kling-klang that is Samurai Waltz. Fellow RBMA alumnus Kidkanevil takes the waltz for a spin with his own special remix.
Marking another first in this release is Max Lane’s inclusion into the Qilin stable. Widely known as Syndicate’s bounce-meister, Max Lane rumbles the bass within his signature head-nodding beatscapes in Wohub.
Qilin’s head honcho, Kiat, maintains the bass continuum for the compilation with Dark Insanity. A heavy number with a name that says it all.
To sum it up, the EP serves as an in-studio extension of Syndicate’s flight in presenting an engineered journey to shift the current perceptions of electronic dance music.Singapore’s revolutionary transmitter of beats & visual culture,
