The ‘Angkara’ EP is a breath of fresh air in the ever-growing dubstep scene, and it is no surprise that these 5 exquisite tracks come from a producer hailing from the little powerhouse called Singapore, in South East Asia. His previous ventures under various other monikers have always been top quality and his grand entrance into dubstep is yet another hat-tip to his versatility.

Naz blesses every listener with a myriad of world music influences in every track – every sample you hear is a personal touch, but the amalgamation is both current and culturally relevant for today’s music. Naz has managed to write tracks that blend music from the heart with raw dancefloor power… a feat to be lauded for generations to come.

‘Kingdom’ begins with a beat resembling an impromptu imperial march to justice – a sly nod in the direction of Qilin Music’s vision. ‘Hyphen’ builds a hypnotic vibe using various instruments of percussion sweeping in and out of the track, demanding the listeners’ attention all around.

‘Gen-in’, the third track, is where Naz gets to show his firepower. With the catchy synth stabs and addictive sub bass throughout the song before ending with an amazing jungle breakdown.‘Distance’ is where Naz begins to show the other, playful side to his productions with catchy, stylish keys are scattered throughout the tune.

‘Shadow’s Monologue’ brings the EP to an end with the essentials: beats and a grimey bline, with a rhythm resembling an intricate tribal ritual. With this track, Naz signs off in style, leaving the listener panting for breath.

Qilin Music brings you the 9th Podcast featuring QIlin music and Syndicate head honcho, Kiat with a proper stepper drum and bass mix.

Recorded specially for our Superhelix party on the 15th of July in London!

Come 15 July, Friday, Singapore’s & London’s finest producers & DJs will come together at Fluid Bar, London, for a sonic assault of low end frequencies. Brought together by London/Singapore label, Qilin, and Singapore’s audio-visual collective, Syndicate, the night will see over 15 artists spread across two rooms.

Spearheading the D&B/dubstep Qilin Room are the label founders themselves, Vortex and Kiat. Joining them will be Singaporeans, Clart and Aresha, who have been making their mark in the drum & bass scene since their move to London. And representing London for the big room bass sound are Need For Mirrors, Digital and Morphy, who will be doing a live set for the night.

The other room, curated by Syndicate, will play host to the slightly experimental side of the bass spectrum. Fresh from a set at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival the week prior to SUPERHELIX and appearances at the Low End Theory & Brainfeeder nights in Los Angeles & San Francisco earlier this year, Syndicate is set to take London by storm.

The Syndicate show will debut in London with special live sets by Cherry Chan, Max Lane and a second appearance for the night by Kiat with female vocalist, Vandetta. Meanwhile, Darren Dubwise will be up to keep the bass, beat & dub rolling on the wheels of steel.

Topping it off and flagging the London flag high, Syndicate has invited Kidkanevil, Om Unit and Blue Daisy to join them in the beat mayhem. After throwing a memorable set at Sonar recently and killing it at last December’s Syndicate in Singapore, Kidkanevil returns the hospitality with both a DJ & live set at SUPERHELIX.

Syndicate resident visualizers, Brandon Tay & Rafi Dean will present a visual showcase together with SupaShen to enhance the night’s sonic assault.

Held at an intimate venue, come down early to SUPERHELIX to ensure entry into Fluid Bar and avoid any disappointment. This will be one bass exchange program you would not want to miss.
